GPSS Elections - April 6, 2009

  • All candidates for the same position will be asked to wait outside behind closed doors as each candidate makes his or her speech and answers 3 questions.

**SPEECH (1 min) When it his/her turn, the candidate will be called in to make a 1-minunte-maxiumum speech.¨

THREE QUESTIONS

(Q: 15 sec, A: 30 sec) x 3Three (3) questions from the GPSS Senate will then be allowed at 15 seconds maximum, each. Each of the 3 questions can be answered by the candidate in a 30-second maximum response.


¨ CANDIDATE STEPS OUT

After the 3 questions are answered. the candidate will be asked to step out of the room and join the rest of the candidates for that position.¨

SECONDING STATEMENT (30 sec) have someone second your nomination with a brief (30-sec maximum)statement of support(Cannot be a current GPSS Exec Board Officer but does not have to be associated with GPSS)


¨ PRO /CON STATEMENTS (15 sec each)GPSS executive board officers or senators are allowed to make either pro or con statements at 15-second maximum each about the candidate. There are only three ossible pro-con statement combinations that will be allowed:(none!)- if no one has anything to say or(pro, con, and pro)
or (con and pro)¨

REPEAT STARTING FROM ** WITH ALL CANDIDATES¨

VOTE

Voting shall be by secret ballot. In the event that no candidate receives a majority of the votes, there will be a run-off between the two candidates with the most votes.¨

PROCEED TO NEXT POSITION IN ORDER LISTED ABOVE

Candidates (except for Campus Affairs Chair) who do not win must

IMMEDIATELY notify the ER Chair if they wish to run for another position that has still yet to be voted in. ¨

Candidates may run for a maximum of two executive board positions to be elected in the order listed below but apply for only ONE position on this form. The position specified in this form shall be the first position in which the candidate may run during elections. Upon losing in the election for the position specified in this form, the candidate must immediately inform the ER Chair the intent to run for any second and final position desired remaining in the order of elections.
